Welcome to the Licking County Library

Local Author Resources

Licking County Library supports our local author community! Sometimes, navigating the publication process can be difficult. Use our digital resources to get started sharing your work.

Share your work with our Library community! Use this service to work on your writing or share material already created. Users can enter and edit work, create cover pages, select design fonts and more. The author holds the copyright and can select a specific type of copyright license should they choose to publish the book. If authors already have a completed work, it can be added to the digital collection.

Indie Author Project
The Indie Author Project is a partnership with Biblioboard and Library Journal to review original works submitted by local authors. Titles selected as Indie Author Books will be shared digitally in libraries across the United States and Canada. LCL encourages you to submit your work. Enjoy the very best of the Indie Author Project submissions as selected by Library Journal at this link. Find Library Journal selected works of fellow Ohioans at Indie Ohio.

Print Publications

LCL is pleased to have the works of many local authors on our shelves. These books are housed in the Local Authors Collection at our Downtown Newark location. Authors who live within Licking County or whose works are based in Licking County may donate one copy of their material for possible inclusion in the Library’s Local Author Collection. Our essential objective is to add materials that appeal to a broad audience or have local importance. In order to submit independently published materials by local or self-published authors, you must submit a form and meet the following criteria found here.
